First Berkeley, Now UCLA

First it was the powers-that-be at UC-Berkeley deciding to celebrate the 1960s Free Speech Movement, not a cause for celebration by the powers-that-be back then.

Now UCLA, as part of its "We, the Optimists" campaign - presumably for PR and fundraising - is celebrating Angela Davis, fired from UCLA on orders of the Regents for her communist activities in that era.  We noted that campaign in a prior blog posting.* The item on Davis is at http://www.ucla.edu/optimists/we-question

Didn't Bob Dylan have a song about how times change? We're not sure, however, he would have foreseen either of the events above.
